Monthly Phases of the Moon

Small class size means personal attention geared to your experience level. Open-level Hatha Yoga class by appointment only. Must reserve by 6pm Monday via email Maximum number of students is 8.

TIME: Email to inquire about available class times.

PLACE: TBD or Simple Studios, 134 W. 29th Street, 2nd Floor (between 6th & 7th Avenues)

BRING: Yoga mat, small towel, bottle for water, comfortable clothing.

PRICES: Group class $20/person for a 90-minute class. Private class $60/1-hour or $75/90 minutes

CLASS DESCRIPTION (90-minute class): 5-minute relaxation clears the mind of daily concerns. Sun Salutations warm up the system, readying it for the practice. Asana means comfortable steady pose – the benefits of the postures come from being held steady with a relaxed mind focused on the breath. 12 basic postures with variations from beginner to advanced, and seasonal additions/subtractions. The series moves through inverted (upside-down) postures, forward bends, backward bends, spinal twist, balancing postures and side bends. By practice of these postures in coordination with deep yogic breath every system of the body is toned: musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, nervous system, endocrine system and the digestive and eliminative systems.
The class ends with pranayama (breathing exercises) and a 10-minute final relaxation.
